Assessments are led by our Nurse Practitioner with a dedicated focus in ADHD care, exclusively by secure video anywhere in Ontario.

What your assessment includes

This is a thorough clinical evaluation, not a questionnaire mill. Expect a detailed review of your history from childhood to now, structured diagnostic interviewing, validated screening instruments aligned with Canadian ADHD practice guidelines, screening for conditions that mimic or accompany ADHD such as anxiety, depression and sleep disorders, and a clear conversation about what your results mean.

You leave with a written diagnostic report suitable for your records, your school or your employer, and a personalized treatment plan - whether or not that plan includes medication.

Coordinated assessment and treatment

Many assessment services hand you a report and a goodbye. Because AuraWell is a medical clinic, our NP can move straight from diagnosis to care: starting and adjusting medication where appropriate, monitoring how you respond, coordinating therapy through our psychotherapy team, and reviewing sleep, mood and lifestyle factors that shape attention.

Frequently asked questions

Is an ADHD assessment covered by OHIP?

A psychiatrist assessment with a referral is OHIP-covered, but waiting times in the GTA commonly stretch beyond a year. Private assessments by Nurse Practitioners or psychologists are not OHIP-covered. Ours is priced transparently and can usually be booked within days.

Can a Nurse Practitioner diagnose ADHD and prescribe medication in Ontario?

Yes. Ontario NPs are authorized to diagnose ADHD and to prescribe and monitor ADHD medications, including stimulants. Our assessments follow Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance aligned practice.

Can the whole assessment be done virtually?

Yes. This service is available only virtually. Assessment, feedback, treatment and follow-up are provided by secure video from anywhere in Ontario.

What does the assessment involve and how long does it take?

A structured clinical interview covering your developmental, academic, work and medical history, validated rating scales, and screening for overlapping conditions. Most assessments are completed across one to two appointments, with a written report to follow.

Will insurance cover any of it?

Some extended health plans reimburse assessments or follow-up visits depending on how your plan words paramedical and nursing services, and Health Spending Accounts commonly apply. We provide detailed receipts you can submit.

Will my employer or school accept the diagnosis for accommodations?

Our written diagnostic report is prepared by a licensed clinician and is generally accepted for workplace and academic accommodation requests. If a specific form is required, we can complete it with you.

What happens after diagnosis?

You choose. Some patients return to their own providers with the report; many stay with us for medication management, therapy and follow-up so that treatment, monitoring and support stay coordinated in one place.
