Clarity about ADHD, from anywhere in Ontario

If you have ever sat at midnight wondering whether ADHD explains the missed deadlines, the restless mind and the drawer full of unfinished projects, you deserve a clear answer. AuraWell offers a private, clinically careful ADHD assessment led by a Nurse Practitioner with a dedicated focus in ADHD care, delivered exclusively by secure video anywhere in Ontario.

Why adults seek an assessment

Many adults reach out after years of compensating: long nights to catch up, systems that never quite stick, or a child's diagnosis that suddenly sounds familiar. Others want to understand whether attention problems are linked to anxiety, low mood or sleep.

The public route and the private route

A private assessment with AuraWell is booked by appointment and paid privately.

What your assessment includes

This is a thorough clinical evaluation, not a questionnaire mill.

History and structured interview

Expect a detailed review of your history from childhood to now, a structured diagnostic interview and validated rating scales aligned with Canadian ADHD practice guidelines.

Screening for overlapping conditions

Your Nurse Practitioner also screens for conditions that mimic or accompany ADHD, such as anxiety, depression and sleep disorders, so the conclusion reflects the whole picture.

Your written report

You receive a written diagnostic report suitable for your records, your school or your employer, and a personalized treatment plan, whether or not that plan includes medication.

From diagnosis to treatment

Medication and monitoring

Because AuraWell is a medical clinic, your NP can move from diagnosis to care: starting and adjusting medication where appropriate, monitoring how you respond and reviewing your plan at follow-up visits.

Support beyond medication

Your NP can coordinate psychotherapy where helpful and review sleep, mood and lifestyle factors that shape attention, with one record and one team that already knows your story.

Before and after your ADHD assessment

How to prepare

Gather old report cards, past psychological or school assessments and any notes from previous clinicians, because evidence of symptoms before age twelve is part of a careful diagnosis. If a parent, sibling or partner can describe what they have observed, their perspective adds weight, and a short list of the situations where attention fails you most helps your Nurse Practitioner focus the interview.

If the answer is not ADHD

A thorough assessment sometimes points elsewhere, to anxiety, low mood, sleep apnea, a thyroid problem or burnout, and that answer is just as valuable. Your Nurse Practitioner explains the findings plainly, documents them in your report and, as a primary care clinician, can begin treatment for many of these conditions or arrange the right referral.

ADHD in everyday adult life

Work, study and relationships

Adult ADHD rarely looks like the restless child of old stereotypes. More often it shows up as missed deadlines, unfinished projects, lost keys, difficulty starting tasks and frustration at home or at work despite real effort.

Your assessment looks at how these patterns affect your daily life, which strengths you already rely on and which practical changes, such as routines, reminders or workplace accommodations, could help alongside any treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an ADHD assessment cost at AuraWell?

The comprehensive assessment and treatment is $475, and follow-up and medication management visits are $99.

Can a Nurse Practitioner diagnose ADHD and prescribe medication in Ontario?

Yes. Ontario NPs are authorized to diagnose ADHD and to prescribe and monitor ADHD medications, including stimulants. Our assessments follow Canadian ADHD practice guidelines.

Can the whole assessment be done virtually?

Yes. This service is available only virtually. Assessment, feedback, treatment and follow-up are provided by secure video from anywhere in Ontario.

What does the assessment involve and how long does it take?

A structured clinical interview covering your developmental, academic, work and medical history, validated rating scales, and screening for overlapping conditions. Most assessments are completed across one to two appointments, with a written report to follow.

Will insurance cover any of it?

Some extended health plans reimburse assessments or follow-up visits depending on how your plan words paramedical and nursing services, and Health Spending Accounts commonly apply. We provide detailed receipts you can submit.

Will my employer or school accept the diagnosis for accommodations?

Our written diagnostic report is prepared by a licensed clinician and is generally accepted for workplace and academic accommodation requests. If a specific form is required, we can complete it with you.

What happens after diagnosis?

You choose. Some patients return to their own providers with the report; many stay with us for medication management and follow-up so that treatment and monitoring stay coordinated in one place.
