The Real Benefits of Registered Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is more than relaxation. It supports circulation, recovery, and stress relief, and it is often covered by insurance.
Read articleAcupuncture is a traditional therapy that involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body. Patients may seek acupuncture for a variety of concerns. During an appointment, your practitioner will review your history and concerns before developing an individualized treatment plan. Direct billing to your insurance provider may be available, depending on your individual plan.

For our rehabilitation services, direct insurance billing may be available depending on your provider and plan. If direct billing is unavailable, we will provide the appropriate receipt to submit to your insurer.
Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years, and it remains one of the most restful hours in a busy week. Fine, sterile, single-use needles are placed at precise points to ease pain and tension and support the body's own regulation, and many people are surprised by how calm the sessions themselves feel.
Persistent pain in the back, neck and joints. Headaches and migraines. Stress that will not switch off, and the shallow sleep that follows it. Jaw tension, and support alongside rehabilitation from injury. Your practitioner reviews your health history and shapes each session around your presentation.
Your first visit starts with a review of your health history, medications and the concern that brought you in, along with questions about sleep, stress and energy that help shape your treatment. Your practitioner explains the plan and answers your questions before a single needle is placed.
You rest comfortably while fine needles stay in place for about twenty to thirty minutes. Most people find this part deeply relaxing, and some fall asleep.
You may feel calm, a little tired or energized, and you can return to your usual activities afterwards. Your practitioner suggests how often to come based on your response, usually weekly at first and then spaced out.
Acupuncture is often used together with other treatments rather than instead of them. For a sore lower back, it can be paired with physiotherapy exercises. For neck tension and headaches, it can sit alongside registered massage. For stress and poor sleep, it can be combined with a primary care review with our Nurse Practitioners. Because these services share one clinic, your practitioners can plan treatments that complement each other.
An initial acupuncture assessment is $120 for 60 minutes, and follow-up sessions are $95 for 45 minutes. You will always know the fee before you book.
Insurance coverage for acupuncture varies more than most services. Some plans cover it on its own, while others cover it only when it is delivered within physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment. We offer direct billing for acupuncture: bring your benefits card and we submit the claim after your visit, so you pay only the portion your plan does not cover. If your plan does not allow direct billing, you receive a detailed receipt to submit yourself.
Needles are sterile, single-use and disposed of after every session, and they are placed by a trained practitioner following clean-technique standards. Your health history review at the first visit screens for bleeding disorders, medications and conditions that call for modified treatment, and our medical team is in the same clinic for any question that comes up.
Most people start with a short course of weekly sessions, then space visits out as things settle. Your practitioner reviews how you respond at each visit and adjusts the points and frequency rather than following a fixed protocol.
Acupuncture is often combined with physiotherapy, massage therapy or naturopathic care at AuraWell. Because your clinicians share one record with your consent, everyone works from the same plan.
Let your practitioner know if you are pregnant, take blood thinners, have a pacemaker or a bleeding disorder, or feel faint around needles, so treatment can be adapted safely.
The needles are about the width of a hair. Most insertions are barely felt, sometimes followed by a dull warmth or heaviness. Many patients doze off during the session.
An initial assessment is $120 for 60 minutes and follow-up sessions are $95 for 45 minutes.
Persistent musculoskeletal pain, tension-type headaches and migraine, and stress and sleep concerns are the most common. Your practitioner will be honest about where the evidence is stronger and weaker for your particular concern.
Often, but read the fine print. Some plans cover standalone acupuncture, while others cover it only within physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment. We offer direct billing for acupuncture, so where your plan allows it we submit the claim for you. Otherwise you receive a receipt after every session.
It depends on the concern and how long you have had it. Your practitioner reviews your response after the first few sessions and adjusts the plan openly, rather than booking you in indefinitely.
