Rehydration in a calm, clinical setting

A hydration drip is the simplest treatment on our IV menu and often the most useful. Sterile fluid with sodium, potassium and chloride flows directly into your bloodstream, so it does not depend on your stomach or gut to absorb it. You rest in a recliner in our infusion lounge at 4600 Hwy 7, Unit 105 in Woodbridge while a registered nurse looks after the infusion.

It is a supportive wellness treatment. For mild dehydration, drinking water or an oral rehydration solution works well for most people, and we will tell you if that is all you need.

When people book a hydration drip

Most people come in after something has drained their fluid reserves faster than they could replace them.

After a stomach bug

Once the worst of vomiting or diarrhea has passed, some people still struggle to drink enough. A drip can help top up fluid and electrolytes while your appetite returns.

After heat, saunas or hard training

Heavy sweating removes water and salt. A hydration drip replaces both in a monitored setting, and active people often pair it with our physiotherapy or massage therapy in the same clinic.

After travel

Long flights, dry cabin air and busy itineraries leave many people feeling flat. An hour in a quiet recliner while you rehydrate is part of the appeal.

After a big night out

Alcohol increases fluid loss. A drip can replace fluid, though a hangover involves more than dehydration and water, food and rest remain the foundations. You are screened first, and we may advise against an infusion if you are unwell.

What is in the drip

The Hydration Drip uses a sterile IV fluid with electrolytes in a balance similar to your blood. Depending on your screening, your practitioner may suggest a different formula instead, such as the Immunity Boost Myers'-type blend or Performance and Recovery, which add vitamins and minerals.

Your visit, step by step

1. Health screen

You complete a short questionnaire and a qualified practitioner reviews your history and medications. IV fluids are not suitable for everyone: people with heart failure, kidney disease or certain blood pressure conditions need individual review because extra fluid can strain the heart and kidneys.

2. Your infusion

A registered nurse checks your vital signs, places a small IV in your arm and starts the drip. Most hydration drips take about 30 to 60 minutes, and your nurse stays close by throughout.

3. Before you leave

Your nurse checks in with you, removes the IV and you rest for a few minutes. Most people drive themselves home and carry on with their day.

When you need emergency care instead

Severe dehydration is a medical emergency and is not treated in a wellness lounge. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for confusion, fainting, no urine for eight hours or more, a racing heart, vomiting that will not stop, blood in vomit or stool, or dehydration in a baby, young child or frail older adult.

Hydration drip pricing

The Hydration Drip is $165. The price includes your health screen, a nurse-administered infusion prepared for your visit and monitoring throughout. If you plan regular sessions, the four-session package takes fifteen percent off any drip.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is an IV hydration drip better than drinking water?

Not for most people. Drinking fluids, including oral rehydration solutions, is effective for mild dehydration. A drip can help when you are struggling to drink enough or prefer to rehydrate in a monitored setting.

How long does a hydration drip take?

Most hydration drips take about 30 to 60 minutes, plus a few minutes for screening and rest.

How much does a hydration IV cost?

The Hydration Drip is $165, including screening, a nurse-administered infusion and monitoring. The four-session package takes fifteen percent off any drip.

Can I drive after my drip?

Most people drive themselves home. If you feel light-headed, rest until you feel well.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. Every first visit includes a health screen reviewed by a qualified practitioner.

Who should not have a hydration drip?

People with heart failure, kidney disease, certain blood pressure conditions, or who are pregnant need individual review, and some should not receive IV fluids. Our screening checks this before anything is infused.

What happens at my first hydration drip visit?

Your health screen is reviewed by a nurse practitioner before your first drip. On the day, a registered nurse checks your blood pressure and pulse, places a small IV line and stays nearby while the fluids run.

How should I prepare for a hydration drip?

Eat a light meal, wear a top with sleeves that roll up easily and bring a list of your medications. Tell us if you have any allergies or have felt faint with needles before.
